You get a prequel! And you get a prequel! In February, news leaked that Starz was developing a prequel to the still-running Outlander. Details were very thin, though as Vanessa Armstrong noted, author Diana Gabaldon had previously said she was working on a book about Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. Now it’s official: The Fraser parents are the focus of the prequel series, which is officially moving forward and has the title Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Gabaldon is a consulting producer on the series, which has Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts on board as a writer. Roberts and Ronald D. Moore (who developed Outlander) are both returning as executive producers along with Maril Davis.

Little else is known about the series—or about Gabaldon’s novel about the Fraser parents. In February, the author posted a snippet that she said may be the first line of the prequel novel:

Outlander‘s sixth season premiered this past March, and a seventh season is confirmed. That seventh season will be based on the seventh book in the series, An Echo in the Bone. There are currently two more books in the series, and a tenth is expected—all of which, presumably, the series could adapt.

There’s currently no announced premiere date for Outlander‘s seventh season, or for the prequel series.
